A five-minute check before departure can prevent many roadside problems. Start with tire pressure and the tire surface, looking for cuts, bulges, or embedded debris.
Then check brake feel and make sure both front and rear brakes stop reliably. If the chain feels dry or noisy, clean and lubricate it.
Finally, check lights, battery levels, phone mount, and bottle cage security. Many small issues begin with one loose bolt.
